Engages, Educates, and Empowers Student Filmmakers
Film industry professionals mentor students to step out of their comfort zone and tell their stories. We unleash untapped creativity and encourage the next generation of working filmmakers to transform the culture of the industry.
welcome to the third annual...
about this Bootcamp and festival
Now in its 3rd season, DocFilmBoot is a filmmaking boot camp that teams Orange High School students with Drew University students and professional filmmaking mentors to create six short documentaries in just six weeks . This year Ms. Earle’s filmmaking students outdid themselves, and we are super excited to show the world their documentaries!
The FilmBoot programs originated from a brainstorming meeting between Cinema Ed and Drew University Center for Civic Engagement. Drew, through its collaboration with ValleyArts in Orange, connected the team with Orange Public Schools, and we have all been collaborating together each year to give access to as many students as possible.
All of these short films are online and available 24 hours a day, so that anyone, anywhere can stream and screen them online. Industry and local professionals have judged the films and they were presented in a Red Carpet Screening at Cinema Lab's The Village at SOPAC Theatre on March 25, 2024. Thank you to Luke Parker Bowles and the team at Cinema Lab for making the screening possible!
With the amazing success of DocFilmBoot and FilmBoot24 we hope to build support for FilmBoot24 and DocFilmBoot so that we can continue to team high school and college students with professionals from the film industry, to make films that not only connect students with their classes and curriculum, but also tell authentic and powerful stories. Enjoy!!
