Engages, Educates, and Empowers Student Filmmakers

Film industry professionals mentor students (particularly those at-risk) to step out of their comfort zone and tell their stories. We unleash untapped creativity and encourage the next generation of working filmmakers to transform the culture of the industry.

    HBO

Cinema Ed and HBO have teamed up to present an industry panel at the Austin Film Festival called The Path to Inclusivity: Empowering Young Filmmakers. Despite all the talk, the current state of diversity in the film and tv industry still has a long way to go. One powerful solution is to start at the beginning - with young filmmakers. HBO has led the way with their in-house fellowships for young filmmakers called HBO Access. Cinema is thrilled to be work with HBO to present this panel and help change the industry, one young filmmaker at a time.

Cinema Ed is proud to be a sponsor at the Austin Film Festival and work with their Young Filmmakers Program to put together and moderate The Path to Inclusivity: Empowering Young Filmmakers. AFF has been working with young filmmakers for many years, and Cinema Ed has followed their work and attended screenings by their students. We are very excited to be working with them to help empower young filmmakers and with the help of HBO, bring information to film and tv industry writers, directors, producers and others about the importance of mentorship.

    New Waves Productions

Over a half century ago, a group of unknown French filmmakers broke through the brick wall of established cinema.  The “Nouvelle Vague” or New Wave included names like François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Éric Rohmer, Claude Chabrol, and Jacques Rivette.  Their new approach, based on low-budgets and a high desire for honesty and truth, pointed filmmaking in a new direction.

However, over fifty years later, the established film industry has taken the techniques of these rule-breakers and made them the norm.

With a desire is to pursue the spirit that began in Paris so long ago, to reignite the passion, New Waves Productions creates films that question established norms and take a fresh look at film as an art form
